It was amazing that we pulled everything together by June 2nd, but we did. The house on Burlington is rented. All the furniture was sold, donated or passed on to friends and family. I wrapped up my job at DEA on June 1st. We rented a 4x8 uHaul trailer and installed a hitch on the Subaru. By noon on Saturday we were on the road.
The first stop was just outside of Walla Walla in the foothills of the Blue Mountains to celebrate Nat's birthday. My parents drove over the hill from Summerville and joined us. It was a large local crowd. Sky and Peter where there. Julie and Arie were missed. A nearly year old Fern as monopolized by grandpa. Ember and Naomi have grown up so fast. I was nearly their age now when they were born.
We made an early exit from what was shaping up to be a typical natty gringo slumber party. We made our way over Tollgate in the dark for the first real test of the Suby with a few thousand lbs in tow.
Sunday we relaxed at home in the trees, enjoying dad's famous pancakes and mom's delicious enchiladas. Grandma came out for the day. Wherever I go and whatever I do, it is always refreshing to come back home to Summerville.

Back story

what?!? you are married?

Yes! We are married. On May 26th at 9 AM Stacy and I joined ourselves in matrimony as witnessed by our two youngest siblings, Dan and Shannon, in Cathedral Park, Portland, Ore.

Dan, Shannon and her fiance Ted then joined as at Sky Dive Oregon in Mollala, where the five of us bailed out of (as one of the instructors called it) a perfectly good airplane at 13,100 feet. We free feel for about a minute before the chutes were opened and we were back on solid ground in another five minutes.

Our leap of faith out of the plane was easily more nerve racking than the life long commitment we made to each other earlier in the day. We look forward to having time in the coming year to planning a joyous celebration for family and friends next summer.

We're still in Portland for one more day. Packing up the house makes me realize just how much stuff I have that I never use and how much of a hassle it is to move. Saturday morning we will be on the road. We'll make a pit stop in Wallla Walla for Nat's birthday party and then on to La Grande to visit my parents for a couple nights.
